How Pashtun Fight, and How we Flail
I made this combat video during one of my last missions in Afghanistan. We landed by night in CH-47 in a Taliban held village. Walked into the village.
Dark. Using night vision. Ahead of me, my tent-mate, Chazray Clark, stepped on a large bomb and flew through the air. Lost both legs and arm.
Chaz screamed terribly and died.
Video starts as bomb stuff is landing in trees around us.
After MEDEVAC landed and flew away with Chazray and other casualty, we continued mission. Back into village. Bombs and Taliban everywhere.
Got into a bunch of firefights. Another bomb strike devastated Afghan Soldier by me. Blew his body and rifle to pieces. This village was filled with bombs and Taliban. We running low on ammo and go dangerous helicopter resupply. Lucky not shot down, and none of our guys stepped on bombs getting resupply.
Found cache of suspected Taliban explosives and, instead of blowing it up ourselves, or hitting with simple air strike, we hit with millions of dollars worth of GMLRs missiles. So we killed maybe a thousand dollars worth of fertilizer in a mission that cost two lives and many millions of dollars.
We did this for years. I was on many missions with similar results. For what?
Anyway, lessons learned. Am very reluctant to recommend war in future. We do not fight to win. Taiwan next? Israel?
Video I made during this attack. Watch at least the first couple mins.
Thank you for financial support. Because I need it.
