Am watching Ukraine events unfold. Am strongly torn between being there, and being in America for the trucker convoy and other war here.
Am concerned that if I fly to the front, air traffic will be shut down and I will be stuck in Europe even while truckers stream across America.
I've noticed something while in wars, and reading about wars. Transplant cultures that form human islands known as anthroinsulae, often retain their cultural identity so much that they never melt in. There must be thousands of these around the world. You may be one of these.
Say, Chinese in Indonesia, or San Francisco, or Jews across Europe. Armenians in Turkey, and so on for thousands of pages.
And those human islands may live amid another people for centuries. And then comes the pandemic, or the invasion, or the authoritarian rise to power. At times when the human island, the anthroinsula, sides with the attacker against the population they co-lived with for centuries, instant Hatred is created. True hatred should be written with a capitol letter, or all caps: HATRED.
So, the small culture "a" lives inside a dominate culture "D" for centuries, and then the invader "I" comes, and a + I attack D.
This is all in for "a".
For if Invader loses -- or maybe if Invader wins -- "a" is in a position that if the Human Island does not pack camels and bolt into the desert, there is a high chance they will be beaten down to the last child, or at least the last man, and women and children taken as slaves.
A modern genocide can happen in places like Thailand where white foreigners get involved in local politics that have threatened to rip Thailand into pieces. If things go upside down, the "farangs' better get out or hideout.
As for Ukraine, I do not know. Clock is ticking.
Ground is frozen but won't be for long.
