Confusing or Mistaken — Hog Cholera
Cholera is something every child should be taught about. There are not many cholera deaths these days in United States, but in case of war you can bet that will change.
Am reading an interesting book on Rabies. Rabies is one of the diseases most well-known to people, though it’s never come near the Titan Status of Bubonic Plague, Tuberculosis, Smallpox, Malaria, Yellow Fever, and so many others of lesser but immense status like Cholera.
Just came across this passage. Seems to indicate human Cholera derives from virus. Human cholera does not come from virus. Human cholera comes from Vibrio Cholerae, a bacteria.
You never have to worry about cholera if you boil your water and keep your food and hands clean. Cholera is like a cliff. It’s very safe if you stay away.
Rabies is scary for various reasons such as that we so often got it from dogs. Actual death toll never has been huge. But some diseases, such as Polio and Rabies, come with high scare-factor.
The incredible Frenchman Louis Pasteur discovered a LOT more than pasteurization. He was like an Einstein of chemistry, physics, and microbiology. Pasteur was the genius who finally conked rabies with a vaccine. (And anti-vaxxers followed immediately, lol. Same story, different generation.)
The more books you read on pandemic, the more you know how the story goes. Never changes. Same story over and over and over. Pandemic with a Thousand Faces.
Anyone who tells you they know how this pandemic ends — never has studied much on pandemic. We will know when it tells us. If it tells us.
